Am Yisrael Chai
Enough talking about my job or my whereabouts on the job or my Parsha preparation (it's Monday, the next one is read aloud on the weekend!) Let me tell instead tell you about my happy-go-lucky weekend
Friday night I joined Hali, Pinny, Pinny's roommates, and Eugene for a Kosher Chinese Shabbos dinner which was really nice with good food. For a moment, I wished I wasn't Shomer Shabbos when I heard Eugene's roommates and some other friends were heading down to Atlantic City for gambling mayhem and hardcore partying. I didn't go. Saturday night I went to a friend's going away party but just wasn't in the mood and wished I was out in the city or home doing nothing instead.
Eugene and I caught Wedding Crashers, which was pretty funny but didn't live up to my expectations. However, I must say that Vince Vaughn had a few really good monologues and perfect comedic timing. A certain star's guest appearence (I won't reveal in case you haven't seen it) wasn't as funny as I had hoped (perhaps the script he was working with should have been better) but all in all the day was nice, even though we cancelled our plans to go to Brooklyn and decided not to take the ferry to the city instead. It will happen again another day I'm sure.
Half-price Sushi, on the other hand ($60 worth for $35, was sooooooo worth it!!)
Oh and I forgot to mention that Saturday night I walked to Highland Park's Ohav Emeth shul to say goodbye to one of my favorite families in the area. The Greenbergs are making aliyah to Israel in about 2 days. It was tough to say goodbye, and I realized how much of an impact they've made in the tiny town of Highland Park, but I was happy that I got to shock them by turning up unexpectedly at the last minute, promising to visit when I make my own trip to the holy land in November.
I am ever so excited about that since I will be going to a wedding, staying at the Greenbergs for Shabbos, visiting my friends at Jewel and running amuk in the center of the city (meaning I hope to spend time on Ben Yehuda, one of my favorite places!)
Israel just has something about it that makes you feel so wonderful, I've told many that just waking up to see the sunrise among the hills of Jerusalem is magical in itself. And I'm so glad the Greenbergs will get to wake up to that everyday.
But I will miss them
