The Life of a Celebrity And Other Adventures
I really did feel like a celebrity this weekend at Eugene's 21st birthday bash (his 4th party since his actual b-day on Aug. 14th, I also counted b-day bar hopping, Joey's, Docs, and this extravaganza!)
First, let me tell you I had a great weekend. I spent Shabbos in Highland Park and ate dinner at Sharona's house (amazing food!) then hightailed it to the city Motzei Shabbos for a reporting event where I interviewed Bradley Whitford and Cynthia Nixon (of Miranda, Sex & The City fame) who were both so nice!! I got back just in time for Eugene's bash but was running late. I arrived with my sisters at midnight (we had already turned Francesca's Toyota Corolla into a club as we danced it to Niki's "It's Time for The Perculator" ringtone. Francesca and I had both taken forever picking out what to wear!!
We met Lauren at the front of the house and went around the back where the party was in full swing!! Apparently people had been asking about me, where I was, why I wasn't there yet and Eugene had wondered about my whereabouts so I was happy to know that people really wanted me there!! When I came in through the back of 86 Richardson, I hugged Vanessa, Mae, Silvia, Gordie, then I hugged Teddy, then Dave, then Monica, Ruth, Shira, and a slew of others!! At that moment, I really felt like a diva (sans the arrogance) because it was nonstop hugging as soon as I arrived. Seemed like people had either really missed me, really wanted me there, or was curious about who I was because I was Eugene's girlfriend. I was polite and sweet to everyone, as I always am and had a huge grin on my face the rest of the night thanks to this moment of feeling like a star!
And of course, I saw Eugene last and it was so worth it!
Francesca, Niki, and I danced all night with Eugene and our friends and then we went back to Easton Ave. apts where Eugene passed out and the three of us ordered a pizza at 4am! Dave and Eric came over from down the hall and Vanessa, Marc, Tatyana, and Vanessa were occupied in other rooms. Vlad, Teddy, and his friend also showed up!
The rest of the weekend was spent holed up in Easton Ave. apts where I watched a marathon of "Growing Up Gotti" episodes, then joined Vanessa, Gordie, Vlad, Silvia, and Marc for half-price sushi at where else but U-Yee. Silvia didn't seem to enjoy her first-ever experience with fish rolls, but Vanessa seemed to find it interesting. Eugene came back later that day after being away for most of it, and we watched the VMAs. Lots of cute little surprises, but nothing major. P. Diddy (oops, DIDDY) did a good job hosting but I wouldn't say it was the best or most glamorous VMAs ever, just a good show!) And a good weekend at that!
