Religious Zionism in Crisis!

So reads the front cover of this week's Jerusalem Report

"Residents of the Gaza Strip, today marks the end of a glorious chapter in the story of Israel, and a central chapter in the story of your lives as pioneers...Your pain and your tears are an inseparable part of the history of this country. Whatever disagreements we have, we will not abandon you."
---Prime Minister Ariel Sharon

I almost gagged on my breakfast this morning.

From The Jerusalem Report.

Zero Hour: The Kissufim border crossing into Gush Katif at the southern end of the Gaza Strip was closed just after midnight on August 15. After that, no Israelis could enter the Strip other than security forces.
Eviction notices were distributed the next morning. Forcible removal began on August 17.

Final Protests: 70,000 people attended an August 10 prayer vigil at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. An estimated 150,000 attended an August 11 rally at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv.

Numbers: By August 15, 897 of Gaza's 1,486 families (60% of households ) agreed to accept government compensation for leaving Gaza. Gush Katif settlers will leave 3,400 dunams (850 acres) of hothouses intact and will be compensated from a $13 million fund raised by the Economic Cooperation Foundation.

And the scariest of all:
The Palestinian Authority stationed 7,500 men on the outskirts of Gaza settlements as pawrt of a 55,000-stong deployment to ensure control of the settlements after disengagement is complete. President Mahmud Abbas declared that Gaza was just the first step in the march to free Jerusalem.

The horror of it all, I think I'm more devoted to going back to Israel then ever!!

"Leave our soil in peace. Come back as tourists and visitors, and you will receive all due respect. Welcome! But don't come back as settlers."
---Palestinian Authority Chief Mahmud Abbas to the daily Yediot Aharonot just before the disengagement began.
